1987 to Present, “Ancient Satellite Fragments,” Washington,DC, Rotarua, New Zealand, Mendi, New Guinea, Memphis, TN     “Ancient Satellite Fragments” are charred remnants of technical objects created by an imaginary advanced civilization that has inhabited a nearby solar system for thousands of years. Some of these fragments fall to earth and have images relating to where they are found and some address regional or international social and political situations. Topics include cultural imperialism, healing, class structure, religion, land use, population and world harmony. And some appear to be complete folly, pure celebration of vision and thought. The images and materials these works are composed indicate a highly advanced and well developed civilization.

2001   Private Collection, “Bardo of Rose”, Steel and Glass. This work is about the timeline of ones’ life. A circulare line that continues along smoothly until it intersects with a fluctuation, and adversity. These fluctuations come in many forms and different degrees of intensity. They can be intensely joyful or an unexpected struggle. In this sculpture the fluctuation is both. There’s an adverse fluctuation that wraps off the line and becomes broken steel, emotional pain. This break releases a clear pearl of growth, the nectar of joy that comes from the pain and could not be seen originally. This is a story of struggles that appear to be insurmountable until later when we recognize the gift.
